'Damn your eyes, damn your eyes' and 'Further Fictions' is a joint exhibition that explores the visual languages and conversations of two artists, Robyn Nesbitt and Natasha Norman, who live and work in two different cities. In a conscious collaboration via email and the South African postal service they have endeavored toderive a joint yet evolving narrative space for their individual practices. This is the first exhibition to incorporate this collaboration.
Natasha has been awarded a residency in Japan for the month of April 2014 at the Mokuhanga Innovation Laboratory (MI-LAB), where she will receive training in Mokuhanga woodcut printing. Additionally, she currently lectures and tutors part-time in the Discourse of Art department at UCT and in 2013 at Rhodes University in the department of Visual and Art History. She had her first solo show at the Bell-Roberts Gallery in 2007 and has been on a number of local group exhibitions including This is Not Final (2010) at the Michaelis Gallery and Wits Substation, Tretchikoff and Me (2010) at Salon 91, Ways of Seeing at the Ore Gallery (2010), Contusion (2007) at the Irma Stern Museum and theABSA Atelier award finalists (2008 and 2006). She completed her Masters in Fine Art at Michaelis in 2011 and an Honours in Fine Art in 2005 also at UCT.
